Experience at Mehfil, Basera Hotel, SD Road, Secunderabad

Yesterday being special for me and my wife we choose to go to Mehfil at Basera. It was a wonderful experience. The ambience was North west frontier type. There were not many people (on week ends they are full). There were live Gazals being sung by an artist.

They had a bar to serve you drinks, cocktails and mocktails and good Indian and Chinese cuisine. The singer gave out beautiful gazals and we enjoyed a cozy evening there with good ambience and good food. Every minute of about 2.5 hrs we spent there were worth it. A good place to be to spend great evening.

Telangana - who next?

Andhra Pradesh is in turmoil. There are agitations galore for Telangana, Symukta Andhra, Make Hyderabad UT etc. The life has been in disarray and uncertainty. News papers are full of conflicting reports and comments of confused leaders. One does not know who or which party would be in favour of what today and how its stand would change tomorrow.

This is perhaps the second time that a major decision has been taken as a result of minor agitation (in the present context). First time it was in 1984 when out of the blue a university was started in Bilaspur, Chattisgarh whth hardly any public clamor for it. Thankfully it is a central university today (so I think).

Ours may be the only country where the state were created on linguistic ground and now we may be the only nation dividing states further on regional basis. The states should be always made for ease and effectiveness of administration.

And who is going to benefit from smaller states. The experience so far goes to prove that only politicians, contractors and govt servants gain the max (Ministries created, Posts created and new contarcts opened). The citizens might gain in some fields but look at Jharkhand. Even in Chattisgarh naxalism is a big problem. Telangana is a region of Andhra where naxals are strong and active. The police fight naxals in Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. If this new state becomes, first problem this young state would face is widespread naxalism because this is the naxal belt of present Andhra.

Will this small state if created would have better opportunity? They have proportional representation in AP Assembly and Parliament. Why did the representatives of this region not fought tooth and nail for development over last 60 years. No one seems to have been on 'fast unto death' on development issue (may be, development is not worth dying for, power is worth doing so). If this matter was not taken up so far, how it would be resolved by making a new state.

When Telangana is made are Bundelkhand, Harit Pradesh, Purvanchal, Maru Pradesh, gorkhaland, Rayalseema, Vidarbha, Bodoland, etc far away? Brace up, soon the country may have 536 (or whatever is the number of districts the country has) states and would compete with erstwhile situation pre 1947. Where will all this lead to?

Tiger in the Woods?

The saga is grown sordid around Tiger and his actual and perceived affairs. Difficult to say how guilty the man ‘ Tiger Wood’ is but the guilt does stick to him, it is matter of how much of it. Whatever he has done is possibly inexcusable.

This fate befalls most of the celebrities either because they get convinced about their infallibility or the pressure of being a celebrity along with clamor of wannabe ladies around them takes the toll and they slip on a path of this kind.

Am I trying to justify this kind of acts, far from it. Only point I make is that a sports person of his quality and his honesty (as it appears at this stage, may be little late) deserves a chance to redeem. His family deserves our best wishes and he deserves our sympathy and patience.

May his and his family’s endeavor of recouping the health of the family environment bears fruits sooner than later and may Tiger comes back to Golf as a much stronger and mature person who has learnt all the good lessons.

Have Shed My Laziness

Human mind is full of thoughts. I am a human and so my mind too is full of thoughts. The thoughts by very nature need expression. I therefore wanted to blog on all kind of issues where I have some thing(s) to say.

As it happens with most of our endeavors, this one too was overtaken by laziness for many months. I gathered myself yesterday, started the Blog. Today I am here, after overcoming my laziness and blogging my first piece that you are reading at this moment.

I don’t know how many of you would find my thoughts worth reading but as long as I get to express and as long as even one person is stirred to think for or against the thought, I have achieved what I wanted to. Even if no one reads it, so be it, I still would go on in true Bhagwat Gita style.

Only one request. All comments are welcome but tasteless comments would be recycled.
